Saving British Honeybees with Cardona & Son Spirit Co.
Cardona & Son use raw honey from hives within a 10 mile radius of Hitchin to infuse their collection of Gin and Rum spirits.
They create delicious spirits using raw honey from their own hives along with locally sourced ingredients and a whole lot of love. So the more cocktails you sip (I am happy to partake), the more beehives they will build and the healthier the local population of honeybees will become.

Spirit Branding
Right from the early concepts the Honeybee had to play an important part in the logo. Utilising the script font already used in the Cardona & Son brands in combination with a bold sans serif font the Spirit Co. branding became recognisable and established. Among the branded elements I designed were business cards, stationery, a mini cocktail booklet, Instagram graphics, gift cards and experience vouchers.
Hitchin Honey Spirit Collection
The gin and rum labels were to be the hero design for Cardona & Son Spirit Co. so key visuals for the spirit bottles we designed alongside each stage of the logo and branding development. The beautiful botanical illustrations featured on the bottles were created by the very talented Karen Brotherton – each of these plays its own role on the labels – as they represent the ingredients used to make the spirits. And as Hitchin Honey Gin is distilled in copper pots we featured this on the labels too; with a printed overlay of copper foil on the text and the Cardona honeybee.
eCommerce Website
Planning the customer journey was paramount in creating the Cardona & Son Spirit Co. website. Once I’d planned out the flow of the homepage Dan of iam39 continued that brand styling as he built out all of the pages. This eCommerce website features animated botanical illustrations in parallax rows and backgrounds. The shop was developed with multiple shipping options. We also created a bespoke map for retail and stockist locations. Plus the content managed back end is easy to use and update for the client.

Icons, stamps & more…
Further elements were created for the website… a fully bespoke cocktails page with image borders and botanicals, icons to illustrate their top tips on how you can help British honeybees and a stamp for ‘Cocktails with a conscience’; Cardona & Son Spirit Co. give back to biodiversity projects with every bottle purchased.
What the client thinks
A rebrand, new product launch and new eCommerce site seemed a lot to take on but Jackie approached this with ease. A patient and professional approach meant we felt comfortable during the entire design process and felt that all our ideas and needs were considered across all elements of the project. We’re so pleased with the final results!
