The Studio at Number 30
Creating a new brand identity and applying it across the website and workbooks of a first-class sewing studio.
The Studio at Number 30 is a sewing studio in Hitchin, with passionate sewing teacher Kaye McGown at the helm (or hem… excuse the pun).
Kaye first came to me for help creating workbooks for her adult sewing classes, but we soon realised we’d need to do some work on the brand first. We re-invented the look and feel of her business using typography, colour and illustrations.

With that all in place, we then set to work on the three workbooks, taking care of the text layout and pagination, as well as the many complex sewing diagrams that were needed.
Website
Working with Kaye’s team and alongside Dan at iam39, we created a smart, clean and organised e-commerce website where students can easily order fabrics and patterns, and book onto classes and workshops.
Branded elements
Since the initial three workbooks, we’ve gone on to create many shorter PDF workbooks, postcards, Instagram story icons, a garment project planner pad and more! And as Kaye’s e-commerce site continues to grow, we’ll be creating more packaging and merchandise, too.
What the client thinks
Working with JM Creates has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish! Jackie and I recently collaborated on updating my branding, the redesign of my website and creating a suite of sewing workbooks for the courses I teach. The whole process has been exceptionally smooth. Jackie totally understood my vision and I went away so confident after our initial meeting. The designs came through so quickly and I was hugely impressed when I opened the preview emails. Her attention to detail is exceptional, the whole process has been so professional and I am very proud of the outcome!
